MNS-Shiv Sena battle dragged to food court, Raj to start eatery chain

Raj Thackeray News: The rivalry between Uddhav and Raj Thackeray and their respective parties has now crossed political boundaries and entered the domain of cuisine.
The MNS chain’s first outlet was inaugurated on Wednesday opposite the Balmohan Vidya Mandir near Shivaji Park by Raj’s wife Sharmila.
The MNS denies its move is inspired by the Sena. “This is our independent concept meant to make Marathi women financially independent,” said Rita Gupta, vice president of the party’s women’s wing.
In 2009, the Shiv Sena had started setting up Shiv vada stalls in the city. Later, the Congress, too, decided to get into the fray and asked the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for stalls to start its own chain that would serve kande-pohe, another Marathi cuisine.
However, unlike the Sena and the Congress that focussed on Maharashtrian food, Pot-puja would serve a variety of cuisines, including non-vegetarian dishes.
